Using imagery in ELAN schools marketing and communications
Keeping children safe while celebrating school life
We know parents/carers enjoy seeing what their children are learning, achieving and experiencing at school. Photographs help us celebrate success, share school life and give families a genuine insight into learning.
At the same time, we recognise the importance of keeping children safe online.
That's why we are reviewing how we use photographs across our website, newsletters and social media. We will continue to share the fantastic things happening in school, but with additional safeguards in place, including:
✔️ Continue never publishing a child's name alongside their photograph. We ask parents to do the same in the comments.
✔️ Using more group and learning-in-action photographs
✔️ Using more photographs where children are not photographed clearly and individually face-on. This may mean faces are respectfully obscured with an award or toy for example. We do not place emojis over faces unless absolutely essential.
✔️ Continue checking parental consent before publishing images
✔️ Regularly reviewing our online content to ensure images remain necessary and appropriate
This approach allows us to continue celebrating our pupils and showcasing school life while putting children's privacy, safety and wellbeing first.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to balance sharing school stories with maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding.
