Purpose of the Role

The role of Chief Finance Officer calls for a finance professional with the necessary experience, skills and personal qualities to be able to operate as part of a close-knit senior team. This is a key role leading the finance function whilst providing a robust financial infrastructure as well as an excellent opportunity to play an important and active part in the strategic direction of this forward looking, successful and thriving Trust.

  • Providing strategic advice to the CEO, Trust Board and senior managers on all issues relating to financial matters.
  • Preparing the Trust’s annual financial forecasts, forecasts for corporate strategies and plans in consultation with the principal and senior colleagues, and developing and implementing strategies for maximising the Trust’s current finances.


  • Providing the financial lead to the strategic planning process, including: annual budgets, periodic forecasts and funding requirements.

Clerk to the Governors

Supporting Across Multiple Schools

Schools: Mendip Green Primary, Milton Park Primary, Oldmixon Primary and Windwhistle Primary Schools

Hours: To be agreed with each school, with an approximate average of 80 hours per school per year.

Rate of Pay: £12 per hour. To be claimed three times per year at the end of terms 2, 4, 6.

Extend Learning Academies Network comprises of seven schools in North Somerset. Four of our primary schools are seeking a joint Clerk to their Local Governing Body.

This is a part-time role, with time demands that will change week to week in accordance with the meeting schedule for each school, and will include a number of evenings. The Clerk will work closely with each school’s Headteacher and Chair of Governors to ensure the smooth running of the Local Governing Body. Proven clerking experience in the education sector will be a distinct advantage in this role. The successful applicant will have good organisational, ICT and minute taking skills to support the preparation, attendance, and minute taking of the various meetings across the four schools.

The post requires flexibility in terms of location and availability to attend governing body meetings as required by each school.
